Various dispute resolution organizations are recognizing the importance of mentoring in developing one's practice. Mentoring can be an essential tool in honing technique, forming marketing strategies and building up your network early on in your career.Next month, at its annual meeting, the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution will sponsor a program entitled, "The Mentoring Master Class: Every Mediator Needs a Mentor, Every Mediator Can Be A Mentor, Too". Discussions will center on what you need to succeed, whether short-cuts work, and other questions relevant to starting a dispute resolution career. Enrollment for the event is limited to twenty, so get in there!
In addition, Abritral Women is currently organizing an international mentoring system for its members, and is actively seeking more women to sign up as mentors. The system is intended to match up experienced international arbitration practitioners with those just starting out, to assist newer members in career development.
